There’s a lot going on at LASA!

To join the Facebook group: Make sure to answer ALL security questions!!!

The PFLASA facebook group is a great place to ask questions, find posts about school-related events, and connect with other LASA parents and guardians asynchronously. For security reasons, we require several automated security questions in the joining process. You must answer all security questions in order to join the Facebook group. If you tried to join and were rejected, it is not because we don’t love you. We do love you and would love to have you join us. Try again, and remember to answer all security questions.

Other ways to get connected:

If you haven’t already done so, here are some other great ways that you can get “in the know” about what’s going on at LASA. The Grade Level Google Groups will become more important as college applications and graduation approaches, but they are also used to communicate about upcoming events and opportunities from freshman year onward.

PFLASA Application Mentoring Needs Your Help

The PFLASA Application Mentoring program is gearing up for the upcoming application window and we need many volunteers. Please consider joining our team.

We provide students with access to adults who have the understanding of the application process and can help edit essay questions and discuss the COGAT. We go to Title 1 middle schools in AISD at various weekly times. Your commitment would be weekly from late-November until early Feb when applications are turned in. We will also need mentors for two Saturday Zoom sessions in January that are open to students city-wide.

There will be training offered at the end of October.

If you are interested, please fill out this form.

Any questions, contact Emily Robson at mentoring@pflasa.org

What does “Paying it Forward” mean?

In PFLASA, we believe in supporting each other across all grade levels. This is why we use the Pay It Forward model:

  • Each year, the Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior families work together to help fund that year’s graduating class Project Graduation event. (This is an all night lock-in party to keep our senior kids safe)
  • When it’s your student’s turn to graduate, the younger classes will do the same for you.

This approach makes our traditions possible and ensures every class has the support they need for a memorable senior year.

Think of it as a circle:

  • Freshmen, Sophomores & Juniors→ support today’s seniors.
  • Seniors (and families) → get to celebrate!

When you attend a Great Gathering or bid in our online Auction, you’re helping us make our safe and fun event for Seniors possible!

By participating now, you’re making sure that when it’s your child’s turn, the community is ready to celebrate them. That’s the power of Paying It Forward.

Thank you for making our NHF campaign a success!

Dear LASA Community,

I wanted to let you know that thanks to you all, we’ve met our fundraising goal for our NHF (No Hassle Fundraiser).

This was accomplished due to a VERY strong effort by our community. When we say that every donation matters – we mean that gifts of ALL sizes – got us to the finish line!

We met our goal through multiple sources: Checks, Cash, PayPal and more.

Now that we’ve met our goal, we’ll be able to keep providing and supporting programming that our students, faculty and community rely on.

Things like —

  • Study Groups (tutoring)
  • Student Stress Busters
  • Teacher Lunches
  • Teacher Grants
  • Teacher Stipends

… and so much more!

💙 We truly couldn’t have done this without each and every one of you.

THANK YOU so much for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Sarah Romo de Vivar
PFLASA President
