Senior Salute Call for Volunteers

Hello class of 2027, 2028 & 2029 parents ,
We’re looking for a few more volunteers to help us run this year’s Senior Salute smoothly.

What is Senior Salute you ask:
It’s LASA’s capstone celebration of everything that makes LASA the unique place we love . . . and an opportunity to congratulate our seniors with extra flair! The event will be held at The Long Center on Sunday May 3, 2026 from ~1-7pm.
Please consider volunteering if you can and thanks for paying it forward.

Do you own a truck or SUV? We need help with Donation for Teachers!

PFLASA needs you to treat LASA teachers to fabulous glass (white) boards. A local company is donating approximately 20 glass boards to LASA that they are no longer using. These boards are easier to clean, do not “ghost” or wear down. A quick poll by Principal Crescenzi confirmed that these are wanted. The company is donating them, the district will (eventually) install them, and LASA can store them.

What we need is for parents with trucks and SUV’s to transport them (including padding them for transport) from Northwest Austin to LASA on Wednesday, June 3rd from 12-3. The boards are 8 x 4 feet and less than 1/2 an inch thick. Our best guess is that they weigh approximately 100 lbs. Please sign up if you can help:

Volunteers Needed May 23

Save the date! Student and parent volunteers needed Saturday, May 23rd. We’ll be putting out tents, chairs, and coolers with cold water for Johnston High School alumni gathering to honor classmates who’ve died in service to our country. Keep an eye on the PFLASA Facebook page for the signup link.

PTSA Updates

Looking for a place to channel your anger/worry over the AISD budget crisis into action? Consider becoming a PTSA Executive Board member. The commitment can be as little as an hour a week and you’ll help us prepare our students, parents, & teachers for the upcoming legislative session and spread good will among our neighbors. Any PTSA member is eligible – including students! Reach out to Elva at president@lasaptsa.org to chat about what role might be a good fit for you!

Everyone is invited to the final joint PTSA/PFLASA meeting of the year: May 22nd at 8:15 in the portable. We’ll be electing officers, approving next year’s budget, and celebrating the end of the year…with door prizes!

PFLASA News

We voted in a VP at our meeting on May 8th, which means we now have a full slate for our PFLASA Executive Board.

PFLASA wouldn’t be able to do what it does without the dedication of the volunteers who make up the Board, our Parent Reps and Event Chairs–it seriously takes many people to make it work! Thank you to ALL our wonderful volunteers that help us pull it all off.

Please give another warm welcome and an extra clap on the back to our newest VP!

President — Angela Graveline
Vice President — Melissa Sarkar
Treasurer — Anna Land
Co-Treasurer — Siobhán Whiteside
Secretary — Amy Casto
Assistant Secretary — Cheryl Starcher
Grants — Marianne Reat
Grants Co-Chair — Stephanie McFarland

May 21 Parent Coffee & Chat at Central Market

Please stop by Central Market North Lamar on Thursday, May 21 for our last “Informal Parent Coffee” of the school year. We are starting from 8:00 AM on. Grab a beverage and head to the covered porch or outside deck. Open to ALL (new and experienced LASA parents). No sign-ups or risk of being volun-told to do something…. simply a chance to gather, mingle, and breathe a sigh of relief that the school year is coming to an end!

We ask you to RSVP so we have an idea of how many tables and chairs to pull together.

Hope to see you there!
