We’d love to see you there!

  • What: PFLASA (nearly) bi-weekly meeting
  • When: Friday, October 17th, at 8:15am
  • Where: the portable building near the tennis courts

At our last meeting, we heard updates about upcoming Great Gatherings and Masterclasses, teacher grants, and recruiting efforts like helping out with Showcase and mentoring prospective students and parents through the application process. We also heard updates on the extensive planning that is happening for Senior events like Project Graduation, Senior Salute, and CoffeeHouse. There’s a lot going on at LASA!

Other ways to get connected:

If you haven’t already done so, here are some great ways that you can get “in the know” about what’s going on at LASA. The Grade Level Google Groups will become more important as college applications and graduation approaches, but they are also used to communicate about upcoming events and opportunities throughout all four years of high school.

You can find more detailed information about all of the various ways to stay in the loop here: https://lasa.austinschools.org/parents/stay-connected

PTSA Loves our Student Members

We really do! We believe in student membership so much that we offer discounted student membership rates when joining through our website.

Also, every year, LASA PTSA runs a contest to see which class will have the highest student membership. The race is on! Here’s the current student membership count:

  • Class of 2028 – 53 members
  • Class of 2029 – 47 members
  • Class of 2027 – 39 members
  • Class of 2026 – 32 members

It’s a close race! Spread the word and have your classmates join PTSA. Every membership counts. While you’re at it, have your parents join too!

What does “Paying it Forward” mean?

In PFLASA, we believe in supporting each other across all grade levels. This is why we use the Pay It Forward model:

  • Each year, the Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior families work together to help fund that year’s graduating class Project Graduation event. (This is an all night lock-in party to keep our senior kids safe)
  • When it’s your student’s turn to graduate, the younger classes will do the same for you.

This approach makes our traditions possible and ensures every class has the support they need for a memorable senior year.

Think of it as a circle:

  • Freshmen, Sophomores & Juniors→ support today’s seniors.
  • Seniors (and families) → get to celebrate!

When you attend a Great Gathering or bid in our online Auction, you’re helping us make our safe and fun event for Seniors possible!

By participating now, you’re making sure that when it’s your child’s turn, the community is ready to celebrate them. That’s the power of Paying It Forward.

Thank you for making our NHF campaign a success!

Dear LASA Community,

I wanted to let you know that thanks to you all, we’ve met our fundraising goal for our NHF (No Hassle Fundraiser).

This was accomplished due to a VERY strong effort by our community. When we say that every donation matters – we mean that gifts of ALL sizes – got us to the finish line!

We met our goal through multiple sources: Checks, Cash, PayPal and more.

Now that we’ve met our goal, we’ll be able to keep providing and supporting programming that our students, faculty and community rely on.

Things like —

  • Study Groups (tutoring)
  • Student Stress Busters
  • Teacher Lunches
  • Teacher Grants
  • Teacher Stipends

… and so much more!

💙 We truly couldn’t have done this without each and every one of you.

THANK YOU so much for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Sarah Romo de Vivar
PFLASA President

BYPTSD feedback

One of my FAVORITE traditions at LASA is “Bring Your Parent to School Day”, I have been fortunate enough to attend almost every year and I am blown away by the teachers and students alike each time I’ve attended.

So, if you had the opportunity to go to BYPTSD (we sure do love acronyms around here) this year, we would love for you to share about your experience during those days.

Whether you went to one class or spent both days following your kid(s) around, please leave some words at the link letting teachers know how it went, what you learned, did you nail or fail a test? (pretty sure I failed the stats test).

We’ve sent this out every year after the event and it’s a wonderful way to let our teachers know what we appreciated, observed and loved.
