Yvonne Espinoza, Instructor
A native Austinite and graduate of Boston University, Yvonne Espinoza is a nationally recognized leader in the college counseling profession with over 22 years of experience. Yvonne worked for 19 years as a full-time college counselor in AISD, worked as an Outside Admissions Reader for the University of San Francisco, and is the sole owner of Yvonne Espinoza College Counseling Services, now in its 10th year of operation. Yvonne also was elected to serve on multiple national level college admissions committees including the Colleges That Change Lives Board of Directors as Treasurer, Women in Admissions Board of Directors as Chair, the Common Application Advisory Board, and Varsity Coach for ScholarMatch. Yvonne is also a Certified Educational Planner and also has a Certificate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida. Yvonne cares deeply about providing college access for all, and about contributing to the professional development of the college access profession which has so enriched her life.
Description
Planning for college earlier in college can help to relieve stress for both students and parents. Many colleges will evaluate students based on their grades and resume starting from the 9th grade on, and increasing awareness for students about actions they can take can help them to be more prepared when the college application process begins.
