Instructor, Mr. Jim Sefcik
Jim Sefcik is the father of Auggie, a sophomore at LASA. He has lived in Austin for 12 years. When he first moved to his home in 2010, there was a tiny sliver of Austin and TX beers in the cooler at his local HEB in Circle C; that has now turned into about half the entire beer section — the growth has been amazing! Jim is a beer enthusiast, which means he enjoys drinking beer, but for him the enjoyment is just as much about learning about and visiting the wonderful breweries themselves. Most have great outdoor space and/or food and fun events.
Virtual Meeting Via Zoom – Link sent in receipt after purchase
In this “class”, we will convene online, talk about the craft beer industry overall, discover and drink some local craft beers, and talk about the beers and the breweries. While we will spend some time focusing on the taste profiles of the beers, this is more about discovering some of the Austin and area craft beer classics, talking about the type of beer you like best, and perhaps finding a new place to visit, while socializing with other parents. We will taste 4-5 beers — I’ll send out the list ahead of time and I will ensure they are beers you can get at most HEBs or Central Market. I’ll also talk about an app that is like the Facebook of beers, but with no content moderation issues or billionaire owners! I would describe this class as good for those who are new to beer or aren’t sure they love it, as well as those who are big fans and probably know more than I do.
This class is different than the Classic Austin Craft Beers 101 and there is no pre-requisite to coming to this 201 class!
Shopping List to be provided to class attendees prior to the class so that you can purchase ahead of time and be ready for the class.
